# Ad-Sponsored Internet Access

## Overview

Gavedu PM-WANI hotspots are designed to democratize broadband access through a simple idea: instead of paying with money, users pay attention. By engaging with sponsored ads at login, users get internet access without a recharge.

> **Status.** As of 21 August 2026, **no ad revenue has ever been collected** and no PDO has ever received an ad-economy share. See [Implementation Status](/gavedu-by-bhumitat/gavedu-by-bhumitat-1/implementation-status.md).

## The model

Rather than subscription or pay-per-use billing, the ad-sponsored design is intended to work as a loop across three sides:

* **Users** get internet access in exchange for engaging with sponsored content. *(Running.)*
* **Advertisers** would reach a local, opted-in audience. *(No advertiser has been onboarded or billed.)*
* **PDOs** (the hosts of the hardware) would share in the ad economy their hotspots generate. *(Not built; no share has ever been paid.)*

Reward points earned from ads live **off-chain** in the application database and are burned once the internet time is used. They fund connectivity without ever minting or diluting the on-chain GVDT token — keeping the consumer experience gas-free and the token supply fixed.
